John Edgar Browning, a PhD Candidate and Arthur A. Schomburg Fellow in the Department of American Studies at SUNY at Buffalo, is one of the world’s leading authorities in Vampire Lore. His expertise includes Dracula, vampires, and horror films and he is the co-/author of several published and forthcoming books, including Draculas, Vampires and Other Undead Forms and Dracula in Visual Media.
For six years at the university-level, Browning has lectured across four states on vampires, zombies, and monstrosity, and during that time he has also presented research on these subjects at various national conferences and festivals, including The Vampire Film Festival (New Orleans), The National Conference of the Popular and American Culture Association (Boston), and International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts (Orlando).
John has spent nearly two years conducting an ethnographic study of persons living in New Orleans who self-identify as vampire, a project that has become the focal point of his doctoral dissertation.
John’s work breathes new life into the undead….
